PEARLS FOR PRINCESS

GIFT FROM THE DUKE SPECIAL COLOUR SPONSORED I One of the gifts made by the Duke of Kent to Princess Marina comprises 372 pearls which are being made into a necklace and bracelets by a West End jeweller. The pearls have been in the possession of the Tcck family for many years, and were given to the Duke by the Queen when he brought his bride-to-be to Balmoral. The gems had been kept by the Queen as a betrothal present for her youngest son. The gift was particularly pleasing to Princess Marina as she is especially fond of pearls. Princess Marina's wedding bouquet, it is expected, will be made up of flowers from the hothouses in the Royal gardens at Frogmore. The exact composition of the bouquet has not been settled, hut in the centre will be a sprig of myrtle picked from the tree which has supplied myrtle to every Iloyal bride in England since the wedding of Queen Victoria. Princess Marina has consented to sponsor a colour for the British Colour Council to mark the occasion of her marriage, and has expressed the wish that it be known as "Marina Green." This is a perfectly lovely shade, and it has the unusual qualification of being equally becoming to dark and fair women. In velvet, silk, crepe, -ninon, it will be equally beautiful, and it possess the further attribute of being as suitable for day wear as for evening. Difficult exactly to define, it may be described as a soft light jade crossed with turquoise; aquamarine may be perhaps a still better description for this elusive tone. There is no doubt that it will have a great vogue. In it, of course, the golden-haired girl will be particularly attractive.
