CHRISTMAS APPEAL
' Sir, —The Christmas season of peace, happiness and goodwill provides a fitting opportunity for all generoushearted people to assist those who, through various causes, are in real want. Daily contact' with the poorest of the poor throughout a trying winter has made «us painfully conscious that a tremendous amount of distress is existing, and many will have a cheerless Christmas unless we come to their aid. The generous assistance of the people of Auckland on, behalf of the poor in the past assures us it is only necessary to let the need be known and help will be forthcoming. During the, winter months 3032 families received help. Cash and kind will be gratefully received and acknowledged at the Salvation Army Samaritan Office, 76 Grey's Avenue. Major Annie Gordon.
