AUCKLAND TRAVEL CLUB
There was a record attendance of members and guests at the Friday morning tea given by the ladies' committee of the Auckland Travel Club, about 200 being present to hear an address by Mrs. I. Stephens, of Wellington, who has been living many years abroad, and who has been giving radio talks recently about her experiences in America. Mrs. Victor Macky, director, presented Mrs. Stephens with a bouquet of roses and sweet peas. Special guests of the morning included Mr. Barnard, M.P., and Mrs. Barnard, of Napier, who are on their way to Japan. Mr. Barnard gave a short talk on the purpose of . his visit to Japan, which country, he said, would supply the key to Pacific policies of the other nations. -Among out-of-town and overseas guests were the following:—Mrs. Bernard Myers and Miss Myers, London; Mrs. Scott, Melbourne; Mrs. W. M. Mitchell, Canada; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pallet, >Napier; Miss Myra Harty, England; Mrs. E. M. Hervey, Sydney; Miss W. St. Paul, Bristol; Miss Tanner, San Francisco; Miss Joy Hercus, Sydney.
