Scoring was, however, slow, and there were few outstanding performances either with bat or ball. In its match against Hamilton the Old Boys team made 146 runs in its first innings (M. Clark 77, R. Clough 24). N. Winger took three wickets for 38 and E. Everest two for 19. Hamilton replied with 42 for four wickets

Hall's century included six sixes and nine fours. For United P. Cairns wns the most successful bowler, taking four for 30. High School, 91 (A. J. Shepherd 21, I/. Daltcn 15. K. Miller 14). defeated Te Awaijiutii, 81 (IT. .Rusden 24, if. Bnrnett 13, C. Bowden 11). Bowling for Te .Awnmutu Bennett took eight wickets for 38 and Rusden two for 19. Perfect summer weather was experienced to-day when the Piako Cricket Association's competitions were continued at Bedford Park, Matamata. The Matamata A team made a good recovery against Te Poi. after being ill. a precarious position, and won by 63 runs. Miles, 74. nnd Dclaney, 24, enrried last week's score from CO for six wickeKs to a total of 137. .Requiring 115 runs to win Te Poi could score only 52. Old Boys had little difficulty in defeating Okauia by an innings and 162 runs, and Oraka (I'utaruru) nlso won by an innings against Matamata B. b<ung 93 runs ahead. There were no outstanding performances nnd the bowling honours were fairly evenly distributed. Scores were as follows: Matamata A.—First innings. 38: second innings. 137 (Miles 74. Delnney 24).
