LECTURER FAREWELLED
FRIENDS OF SOVIET UNION .An opportunity was taken by various organisations at a meeting of the Friends of the Soviet Union last evening: in the union's hall, Karangahape Road, in celebration of the 17th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, to make presentations to Mr. H. C, Dickenson, lecturer in economics at Auckland University College, before leaving on Jiis return to England. The chairman was Mr. R. Armstrong. As a mark of their appreciation of his work for the working-class movement Mr. Dickenson was presented with an illuminated address by Mr. J. Green, on behalf of the Free Speech Council; a travelling rug by Mr. Hall Skclton, representing the Rationalist Society; a Maori plaque by Mrs. J. Hasihani.'on behalf of the Friends of tho Soviet Union; and a book by Mr. Bunting, as the representative of a section of the Auckland Tramways Union.
In replying, Mr. Dickenson spoke of his sympathy for the working-class movement, and of the increasingly large support the movement was gaining.
