ORAKEI BASIN CLUB The Orakei Basin Model Yacht Club opened its racing season in the Orakei Basin yesterday with a. series of races for senior nnd junior members. The weather conditions were ideal for model yachting and there was a good attendance of members and the gen oral public. In declaring the season open the commodore, Mr. A. R. Bevins, complimented the members on their improvements to the clubhouse, jetty and surroundings. He apologised for the absence through indisposition of the president, Mr. A. Bevins, also for Mr. Ernest Davis, club patron, who sent his best wishes and promised a trophy ior competition. , The various races were keenly contested and large entries were received,, no fewer than 41 boats, 20 senior and 21 junior, taking part in the racing. A feature, was the number of new competitors, especially in the 4tt class. Refreshments were provided oy Mesdames A. R. Bevins and M. Pearson. Messrs. A. R. Bevins and A. Cloke were in charge of the senior events and Messrs. L. Moyle, Betterton. E. Allan and F. Pearson conducted the races for the junior members.
