BOY PIANIST
PHILIP HARGRAVE SEASON Philip Hargravc, the youthful Australian pianist, who so thrilled and delighted a large audience at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday last, wilj give his second recital this evening. Tho programme will further demonstrate the versatility of the boy. A Sydney critic, writing of his playing of Mozart's Sonata 111 C Minor (which is included -in the programme this evening) said: —' It was astonishing to see his small fingers Hying easily over the intricacies and compassing the nobler passages of a Bach Prelude and Mozart's finest sonata with assurance and power. The performance was not merely of mechanical accuracy; thus the opening Can tnbile of Mozart's C Minor fantasia and sonata sang itself gracefully along. To memorise this work, of which the portion played covers 13 lal'ge pages, and a dozen others for one programme, is in itself a remarkable feat for a child. Philip Margrave's numbers will be Prelude and Fugue. No. 21, in 13 Mat (Bach), Rondo in E Flat, Op. 11 (Hummel), Fantasia and Sonata in C Minor (Mozart), "Grande Value Brilliante," Op. 18 (Chopin), Etude, Op. 10, No. 5 (Black Note) (Chopin), Etude, Op. 25 v No. 1 (Chopin), Liebestraum, (Liszt) and Etude in E Flat (PaganiniLiszt). Mr. J. Alexander Browne, the baritone, will also appear in a budget of new numbers.
