ESTATE OF £17,000

PUBLIC BEQUESTS MADE FORMER DANNEVIRKE RESIDENT Three public bequests are provided for under the will of Mr. Herbert Chadwick, who died at his residence at Green Lane, on October 7. The estate is valued for probate purposes at under £17,000. Mr. Chadwick, who spent, most of his life in New Zealand in Dannevirke, and who was always a prominent Oddfellow, has left £IOOO on perpetual trust to the Loyal Dannevirke Lodge, 1.0.0. F., Manchester Unity, to provide an income to be used for the relief of members of the lodge or their dependants. He has also left to the lodge the Manchester Unity certificate of his grandfather, a document now more than 100 years old. The will further provides bequests of £250 each to the British and .Foreign Bible Society and to the Melanesian Anglican Mission. Mr. Chadwick, who was a member of a well-known English family in Tl <* r " wickshire, had reached the age of 73. He came to New Zealand over 50 years ago, and entered the service of a Hastings firm as accountant. Later he moved to Dannevirke, where he took a particularly active part in public affaiis. Some ten years ago he came to live in Auckland. The trustees are Now Zealand Insuranco Company and Mr. T. C. Thomson, solicitor.
