EIGHT-OAR RACING The encouragement, of eight-oar racing among maiden oarsmen And in the seiondnry schools was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Rowing Association executive last evening. Mr. A. C. Norden presided. Provided the association, agrees to Stage maiden eights "at championship- regattas. Mr. C. G. Ileruman offered to make cash donations of £l6 for first, £2 for second and a cup 10 the value of £B. The offer was accepted with thanks. It was decided to notify clubs to make inquiries regarding the purchase of clinker eights. A resolution was received from the West Efid Club suggesting that the Auckland Rowing Association recommend to the New Zealand Council that a senior eight-oar championship be added to the championship programme; In the event of the Suggestion heitig accepted by the council, it was decided to ask it to subsidise cash donations for the event for a period of three rears. Train arrangements for the TAuranpa regatta on Boxing Day were reported to have been satisfactorily made. The electijn of sub-committees resulted as follows:—Emergency, chairman, secretary and Mr. R. Porter; tinance, chairman, secretary, treasurer, and Messrs. C. O. Herdman and J. R. H. Biss; eight-oar end secondary schools, Messrs. L. F,. Brooker, J. K. Hunii, R. Porter, C. P'Authrenu: association eishts, Messrs. P. R. Griihame. J. C. Aitken; regntta, chairman, secretary, treasurer, Messrs. L. E. Brooker, J. C. Aicken, C. O. Herdman. Messrs. C. G. Herdman and I>. G. Stotter. who were frrnnted special leave of absence to visit Melbourne for the Centenary celebrations, weie authorised to make inquiries regarding the probable visit of Australian crews for the New Zealand championships.
