TELEGRAPHIC CHARGES
POSITION TO BE REVIEWED TRIAL OF NEW SYSTEM FIRST An indication that a review of the position in regard to telegraph charges would be made after a fair trial of the new system had been possible was given by the Postmaster-General, the Hon. A. Hamilton, in a letter received by the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce yesterday. "It will be some time before the true effect of the new rating system can be gauged," stated the letter. "When the public has properly settled down to the new charges, however, and a fair trial can be said to have been given, I propose to review the position for public information." "I hope the Government will realise that a return to the flat-rate system of paying for telegrams would be the wisest thing," commented the president, Mr. A. G. Lunn.
