MANUREWA CROQUET CLUB
A large number of visitors and members attended the opening of the Manurewa Croquet Club on Saturday afternoon. Delightful weather prevailed and tbe lawns were in excellent condition. Several selections were rendered by tbe Ma 11 urewa Town Band and these were much appreciated. The president, Mrs. Coxhead, welcomed the visitors. Mrs. Clark, of the Auckland Association, addressed the gathering and wished the club a aci,\ successful season. Mrs. Keesing, secretary of the Auckland Association, played the first ball. Progressive croquet was played, the winners being:—A, Mrs. Mcßae (Pukekohe). 1; Mrs. Gollin (Ellerslie), 2. B, Mrs. Warlich (Papakura), 1; Mrs. James (Waiuku), 2. . Afternoon tea was served by the members, the club colours being most artistically displayed in the arrangement of the table decorations of green and gold. Among those present were visitors from Pukekohe, Henderson, Waiuku, Ellerslie. Papntoetoe, Papakura and the local bowling and tennis clubs.
