" RANCHER EARL'S " HEIR
The wife of the 20-year-old " rancher earl," the Counjess of Egmont, has given ibirth to a son and heir, according to a message from Calgary, Alberta. Both the baby and his mother are doing well. The young earl succeeded, to the title on his father's death in 1932. In the same year he married his Canadian cousin, Ann Geraldine Moodie, who worked iFor some t:ime in a Calft,'iiry dentist's office. Earlier this year it wm announced that the earl and countess were planning a visit to England thisi autumn in connection with his estates. His seat is Avon Castle, Ringwood, Hants. About five years ago the earl and his father were unknown ranchers, living in a log cabin at Priddis, near Calgary. The title came to the father when a distant cousin, the ninth Earl of Egmont, died, and the two went to England to" live in Avon Castle, in the heart of a 2000-acre estate.
The present earl came into the title when he was 17. His father' was fatally injured in a motor-car accident. The earl 's estate, said to be worth £250,000, is buing; administered by trustees until he iis 21.
The young earl returned to Canada almost immediately after his father's death.'
