BOY PIANIST
PHILIP HARGRAVE RECITALS At His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday, October 20, Philip Hargrave, the 12-year-ald boy who has astonished Australia with his mastery over the niano, will give his first recital in New Zealand under the direction of J. and N. Tait. It is claimed that he will appeal not merely to those who study music as an art, but also to the general theatre lover. In all the capital cities of Australia, the recitals have been one long triumph, and a great career is predicted for the lad. One critic wrote: "It is a long time since the public of the Adelaide m»si ca l world has been roused to such enthusi-r asm as it was last night by Philip Hargrave. At the conclusion of his programme the thunderous applause \vits punctuated with ' bravos ' given with an abandon which one would es» pect only at a carnival night at La Scala. Just what this boy did to our emotions is difficult to express. One left the hall baffled by his technique and power of interpretation." Particulars regarding booking arrangements will be announced later.
