FARMHOUSE BURNED
ABSENCE OF OCCUPANTS NO WATER SUPPLY AVAILABLE [fhom our own* correspondent] v TAUMABUNUI, Sunday During the last fortnight three fire* have occurred outside the borough water supply area. The third fire broke out last night in, ? seven-roomed house at Lairdvale, owned and occupied by Mr. T. Edwards, a dairy farmer. The Taumarunurfire brigade answered the call, but as there was no water available and the house was then in flames, they could do nothing except save the contents of a shed near by. Mr. Edwards, his wife and family wei#' in Taumarunui at the time.
OUTBREAK AT; HEWTON i WOODEN LANDING DAMAGED An outbreak of fire caused minor damage yesterday morning to a wooden landing leading from the road to a partly-finished building at 2A St. Jantes' Street, Newton, owned by Mr. J. A Bock. The fire was easily extinguished by a machine from the central station. The cause of the outbreak is unknown.
