CRICKET
WAIHEKE ISLAND PLAY RELIEF WORKERS' CLUB Relief workers at Wailieke Island have formed a cricket club called the Ostend and Onetangi Relief Workers' Association Cricket Club. Sufficient funds have been raised to purchase material. It is hoped other cricket clubs will be formed on the island to enable competition games to be played. The following officers have been elected:—Patron, Mr. F. W. Schramm, M.P.; president, Mr. F. H. Brown, chairman of the Ostend Road Board; vicepresident, Mr. T. Finer; chairman, Mr. W. Black; lion, secretary, Mr. C. S. Butler; committee, Messrs. N. Stewart, H. Clayton and A. Smith.
HAURAKI PLAINS ASSOCIATION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, Friday
There was a Rood httendance of delegates at the annual meeting of the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association. Mr. J. Donaghy presided. Tho report stated that the association was now entering its l*2th season. The club competition during the Inst eeason had proved one of the most interesting, as no fewer than four of the Bix teams competing had chances of being the winner. The Maramarua team eventually won, securing the Arbury Cup. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. J. Motion; president, Mr. J. Donaghy; hon. members, Messrs. F. E. Hammond, C. W. Pnrfitt. J. H. Nicholson. C. Welson, A. G. Davis, F. Pinchess. T. Dimmock, W. Montgomery, J. G. Miller and G. Courtney; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Clark; hon. auditor, Mr. F. L. Wallis; selection and advisory committee, Messrs. J. Donaghy. J. H. Nicholson and C. Lawrence. ,
It wrus -tedded, owing to the number of teams in the competition, to make an early start next season and the date fixed waa September 29. It was decided to affiliate ngain with the Auckland Cricket Association and that financial club members only be played in representative fixtures. The draw for matches in the first round resulted as follows, the home team being mentioned first in each caseSeniorß: Pipiroa v. Hopai; Kopuarahi v. Kaihere: Kerepeeh: v. Waitakaruru; Ngatea v. Mnramarua. Juniors: Hopai v. Kopuarahi; Kaihere v. Ngatea.
