DAIRYING REGULATIONS
RECEPTION IN LONDON FEELING OF APPREHENSION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday
Information received in Wellington indicates that the new dairy produce marketing regulations, instigated by the Dairy Board, which came into force on August 1, have met with a mixed reception from London importers.
A private cablegram received this week states that at a meeting of the importers' Association on September 13, a resolution was moved that the importers would do their utmost to make the scheme a success, but the meeting placed on record its apprehension regarding the effect of the scheme on market values, when everything was arriving on open consignment and f.o.b. business was practically eliminated. Further advice stated that the meeting was not a full one owing to the holidays, and that the voting was seven for and seven against the motion. Advice from another source stated that a resolution was introduced at the meeting warning the Dairy Board of the probable disastrous effect on markets through the enforcement of the new regulations, and that the voting was equal.
