BURGLARIES IN CITY
TOBACCO AND SPIRITS THEFTS FROM WAREHOUSES The theft of a quantity of tobacco and cigarettes from the premises of National Distributors, Limited, general wholesale merchants, Stanley Street, City, was discovered yesterday morning. A similar theft, carried put in an almost identical manner, was committed at thi firm's premises about a year ago. The thief made his way to the bade of the building, climbed up to ths second storey and entered through a window, after cutting an iron bar guarded it. Tobacco and cigarettes were the only items taken from the stock. The intruder then descended to iha ground floor, smashed a padlock securing a side-door and left without difficulty.
The premises of Cooke and Company, Limited, wine and spirit merchants, 127 Albert Street, City, were also broken into on Wednesday night or early yea* terday morning. A thief smashed a window at the back of the building and stole Beveral bottles of spirits.
