NEW ZEALANDER IN ENGLAND FINE UNIVERSITY RECORD [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHT7RCH. Thursday The New Zealander who was killed while diving in the Hunstanton swimming pool in England on Tuesday, Mr. Alan Raymond Smith, was a brilliant student at Canterbury University College, where he was very popular. He was 30 years of age and went to England in June, 1932. His relatives reside in Hawke's Bay. Mr. Smith graduated bachelor of engineering in 1929, taking up a temporary position as assistant in the School of Engineering. He was a college football blue in 1926 and 1927, a boxing half-blue in 1926 and a full blue in 1927. He represented the New Zealand University at Rugby football in 1929.
