OKARITO DREDGE RESUMES The Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold Dredging Company, Limited (South Westland), reports that the alterations to the dredge were completed and dredging was resumed on Monday. During the stoppage, the old gold saving tables were removed and the new tables fitted, and these will require some adjustment. Twelve ounces of gold were recovered ffom the old tables. GILLESPIE'S BEACH DREDGE The Gillespie's Beach Gold Dredging Company, Limited (South Westland), advises that there was no washrup lastf week on account of the dredge-master having to fix the race from lagoon to dredging paddock. The seepage through the race prevented sufficient water from entering the paddock. The stoppage i» temporary. NEVIS FIELD ACTIVE Signs of an early revival of activity on thfc Nevis field are reported from Cromwell (Otago). Two more highly payable returns from the Waenga Miners' claim brought the yield- from the present smaix paddock to 260z. It is reported that work in the lowlevel tunnel at the Old Bendigo mine will be resumed at an early date. OPTIONS NOT EXERCISED New Zealand Gold Options, No Liability, Melbourne, states that following reports on options over the Nevis area and the 400-acre area adjacent to the Nevis area, «it is not the intention of the company to exercise these options. RICH YIELD FROM 3\ TONS A bar of retorted gold weighing 2400z. and valued at about £2OOO lias been lodged at the Commonwealth Bank, Rockhampteri, Queensland. The gold was obtained from a crushing of three and a-half tons of orq at a claim which is being worked by a syndicate about 12 miles from Raglan, in the Rockhampton district. BULOLO PRODUCTON Production of the three Bulolo dredges (New Guinea) for August, with the July figures in parentheses, was as follows:: —Cubic yards, 653,500 (634,900); bullion ounces, 14.462 (15,653); gold, fine ounces, 10,001. (10,691); value Australian currency at £8 10s per fine ounce, £85,008 (£90,873). KARAMEA DEVELOPMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WESTPORT, Thursday In the "Warden's Court yesterday a, long list of applications concerning goldmining was dealt with. The activities on Scorpion reef at Karamea, where a company intends to start developments on a fairly large scale, have led to a great deal of optimism regarding a goldmining revival in this district. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Mataki (Murchison). —During last week the dredge w °rked f or 138 hours 30 minutes on a face of 550 ft., the average depth being 14ft. Depth and values remain much the same as the previous week. We are now opening out on the east side through an old worked paddock which has not been bottomed. This has affected the return somewhat. This paddock should take a fortnight to get through. I do not ianticipate Eft present any drop in the returns. . £
