EPSOM INFIRMARY
INMATES ENTERTAINED A quaintly varied entertainment entitled "Pantomime Aladdin," organised by Madame Valeska under the auspices of the Onehunga branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, was presented on Tuesday evening for the amusement of the inmates of the Epsom Infirmary. It met with a hearty reception from the large audience The characters of Aladdin, empress, princess, fairies, .pirates, tiny tots, etc., were all excellently portrayed, while the great variety of Russian, Dutch, Spanish and other classes of dancing were executed with graceful effect and elicited much , applause. The antique dresses, whimsical drolleries and tuneful melodies of the numerous performers, assisted by wei,rd and brilliant stage lighting effects contributed to the delight of the old folk. Among those taking part in the pantomime were Misses Sara Stackpoole, D. Katipa, J. Asquith, K. Simeon, Messrs. G. Kirk, W. Carter, G. Middlebrook, F. Hvde. The ballet dancing by Misses M. Jacobs, N. Gordon, P Barnes. T. Barnes, and D. Butler, and a "gymnastic display by members of the Wilson Institute of Physical Culturo evoked hearty applause. A troupe of twenty "tiny tots" gave evidence of careful training. Mr. Stanley Asquith acted as stage manager, and Miss Wynne Robinson as accompanist.
