WAFHI CRUSHING RETURNS 46430 Z. OF GOLD IN 22 DAYS [by telecbaph—own correspondent] WAXHI, Friday 1 The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company, Limited:—. For the period ended September 1, comprising 22 crushing days, 17,673 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 4643 fine ounces of gold and 27,848 fine ounces of silver. This includes 1717 tons mined from the Grand Junction ' area, which yielded 400 ounces of gold and 1300 ounces of siber. ■ Surface.—The cross-cut to the north from the School drive is now out 66 feet. No. 5 level.—Martha lode: North crosscut at 800 feet west is now out 137 feet. North branch of Martha lode, sinking winze at 486 feet. West: the first 13 ieet is ore of good grade, over three feet of reef with the south wall exposed. jNo. 6 level. —North branch of Martha lode: In the rise at 151 feet west the next 43 feet is ore of good grade, about four feet wide. No. 7 level.—North branch of Martha lode, leader at 240 feet west: We have driven to the north-west on this 43 feet. The width is from two to four inches. No. 12 level.—Edward lode: Driving south, the next 24 feet assays 16s a ton. This is on the west part of tha main section. NEW REEF AT BIG RIVER The secretary of Big River Gold Mines (Reefton) advised the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday by telegraph that a reef has been intersected in new unexplored country in, No. 4 level.north drive. The lode is now sft. wide without disclosing the hanging wall. The stone is carrying good visible gold and looks • promising. YIELDS OF COMPANIES Glenroy (Murchison). —A preliminary wash-up on Saturday returned 28oz. A large proportion of the area treated was barren ground, including the tailings from old workings. Bell Hill (Ahaura, Nelson). —Return for month, 30oz. for 120 hours' work. All material treated was from the ton levels. Nokomai (Central Otago).—The completion of a partially-excavated paddock at. foot of the hill on the east side of the claim returned ISooz. lGidwt. More than half of the paddock had a high rock bottom carrying very little gold. It is now proposed to move the elevator from the high bar and open up a new paddock on more payable ground. Golden Dawn (Owharoa). —For the 12 working days ended September 8. a total of 305 tons of ore was treated for a return of £1145, realisation estimated at £7 2s an ounce. Snowy River (West Coast).—For period ended September 9, 3oz. 18dwt. for 129 hours' sluicing. Bell-Kilgour (Cromwell) .—This week. Boz. sdwt. _ .
