THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE INTEREST IN INDUSTRIALS Active interest was shown in industrial issues on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, but there was a quieter tone in other sections. Turnover was not up to the level of the previous day. Further advances were made in offers for Government lo£ ns, particularly the 3} per cent stocks. A seller apjieared in the 194.0 4 per cent stock only, and a parcel of these changed hands 2s 6d higher at £IOB ss. In banks. Commercials receded slightly, but levels improved for English, Scottish and Australians, and New South Wales. A transfer of Commercials was made Id cheaper at 17s Bd, while New South Wales were done unchanged/at £32, with more wanted at that price. New Zealands were released 2d higher at 48s Id, and the D preference issue chanced hands 6d higher at 34s 6d. Reserve Banks were placed at the current rate, £6 9s 3d. Inquiry for insurances was unchanged but few sellers operated. Nationals were taken unchanged at 20s 3d. The general sections were marked by further improvement in Bycrofts, which had sale Is higher at 53s 6d. New Zealand Breweries recovered to sell 7jd higher at 47s 6d, and Gear Meats were done 6d dearer at 275. A gain of ■was established in a sale of British Tobaccos at 3Ss 9d, while New Zealand Refrigeratings, £1 paid, were placed 4Jd dearer at 19s 6£d. In timbers, Nationals were secured unchanged at 13s 6d, and Taupo-Totaras lid cheaper at, 6s 10id. Sanfords dropped 3d in a transfer at 2s 3d, business at current prices be/ng done in Farmers' Fertilisers and Wilsons Cement.
