NEW VESSEL TO BE BUILT UNION COMPANY'S INTENTION [by telegraph —press association! WELLINGTON, Thursday Encouraged by the goodwill displayed by both the New Zealand and Australian Governments, and in view of their declaration of their attitude toward the need for protecting the local shipping industry, the Union Steam Ship Company intends without delay to call for tenders in Great Britain for the construction of a fast trans-Tasman steamer which will excel foreign competitive vessels in service and speed.
