WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MEN'S DOUBLES TO-DAY (Received August 19, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 13 In the semi-finals of the women's lawn tennis championship at Forest Hills to-day Miss Helen Jacobs defeated Miss Babcock, 7—5,6 —0, and Miss Sarah Palfrey defeated Miss Dorothy Andrus, 6 —3, 6 —4. In the quarter-finals yesterday Miss Palfrey had defeated Miss Freda James (England), 6—3, 3 —6, 6 —l, and Miss Andrus had defeated Baroness Levi, 6—l, 6 —4. Playing in the Casino singles tournament at Newport, Allison defeated Frank Parker (New Jersey), 6 —1,6 —4 7 —5, in the final. Fred Perry and F. D. Wilde have been placed first in the foreign seeded list for the United States doubles championship to be begun on Monday at Philadelphia. Vernon Kirby (South Africa) and Roderick Menzel (Czechoslovakia) drew second position. The defenders, Lott and Stoefen, topped the United States seeded list.
