ROAD RACES IN AUCKLAND MANUKAU CLUB'S EVENTS FASTEST TIME TO J. BROWN Two events under nnpaced conditions wore decided by the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday. Except for n light shower during the progress of the senior event, good racing conditions prevailed. Competitors were despatched at regular intervals and had to ride alone throughout their respective races. The junior event was over two laps of the Avoiulale South circuit, live miles, and attracted ten starters. The order on actual riding times was as follows:—J. 11. Gillbaiiks, 13m 555, 3; C. T. Dwight. lint 7s, 2; G. W. Holland. 14m 10s, 3; H. A. Hoffmann. 14m 21s, 4. The placed riders on the scaled handicap were:—H. A. Hoffmann (Im 235), 12m 595, 1: J. H. Citibanks (355), 13m 20s, 2; G. W. Holland (15s), 13m 555, 3; 11. Vernon (lm 40s), 14m 2s, 4. Twenty-two seniors started in their event over eight laps, 20 miles. J. Brown was the third rider to start, but from the start set a strong pnee and finished ahead of the field, to make the best time. On his first lap he equalled the record of 6m 295. Tho successful riders on the time basis were:—.T. Brown (55m 575), 1; J. "W. Clark (57m 9s), 2; L. H. Dwight (57m 325), 3; V. R. Ellis (.")8m 12s), 4. The result of tho sealed handicap was:— J. W. The cup donated by Mrs. J. Gillbanks to the competitor who improved the most on his time of the May time trial event was won by J. G. Morris, who improved 3m 21s on his previous unpaced time ol 62m 18s. TAKAPUNA CLUB . A big field started on Saturday in a 221 miles race held round the lake circuit by the Takapuna Cycling Club for the Rninger Cup. Results were:—G. Keating. 4m 30s. I; O Durbin. 3m 30s. 2: L. Denning. 2m, 3. Winner's time, 64m 235. Fastest time, K. Jones, scr, 60m 255. BEACHHAVEN CLUB The Beachhaven Amateur Cycling Club held two out-and-liome races on Saturday. The senior event was 22 miles to Albany nnd back, while the junior was 8i miles. Results were:— o Senior.—A. Elia (4m), 66m 295, I: S. Hilder (4m>, 66m 29 l-ss, 2; A. Marris (3m 30s). 68m 275, 3. Fastest time: G. French (lm 30s), 64m 27 l-ss. Junior.— R. Elia (lm), 27m 21s, 1; R. Tout (15s), 2Sm 2s, 2. Fastest time; H. Elia. lynndale club A good muster of juniors and seniors competed on Saturday under good conditions, when the Lynndale Amateur Cycling Clu>> conducted two races on its circuit at New Lynn. Results were:— Junior Race.—P. Johnson (2ro 655). *.4 m 425, 1; G. Stewart (3m 30s), 25m, 2; H. Hawko (3m 30s). 25m Is. 3; E. Carr (2m ,355). 25m ss, 4. Fastest time was made by G. Helliwell (scr), 2lm 28s. Senior Race.—A. E. Davies (2m 15s), 71m 325, 1; W. Kirchcr (7m), 71m 335, 2; G. Gooder (scr), 71m 595, 3; G. Holton (3m 15s), 72m Bs. 4; E. Alderson (lm), 72m 12s, 5. Fastest time was made by C. Gooder (scr), 62m 29a.

AUCKLAND AMATEUR CLUB The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held the fourth annual harbour championship race, a distance of 44 mil?*, on Saturday. A good field of 31 faced the starter. With half the journey gone the leading bunch was O'Gorman, Garrard, Cul- - Clarke, Mooron Crocker, Richardson, Laurence and Banfield, but punctures reduced this bunch to five at the finish. There was a lot of fast work among the backmarkers. I. Luloli rode his best race this season and was the fastest man in the race, but was disquajified for changing cycles owing to a puncture. The title therefore went to the next best rider. A. Keith. The placings were:—A. Richardson (14m 30s), 2h 24m 19s, lj W. Crocker (14m 30s); 2h 24m 2ls. 2; K. Clark (16m), 2h 25m 52», 3; L. Moore (17m), 2h 26m 53a, 4. AUCKLAND CLUB The weather was fine although showery on Saturday afternoon when the Auckland Cycle Club continued its weekly road events at Tamaki. Junior and senior races were held, the former being eight miles and the latter 25 miles. I The junior race resulted.—E. Redfern, 1m 30s. 1; J. Bickncll, lm 40s, 2; C. Hansen, Im 80s, 3; T. Hedlnnd, lm 30s, 4. E. Redfern clocked fastest time in 24m 31s. The senior renult was:—W. Pratney (scr.), fastest time. 07m 14a, 1; S. Litchfield (scr), 2: D. Aitchison (3m 40s), 3; R. Craig (lm 20s), 4. AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB Tho Auckland Ladies' Amateur Cycling Club conducted a four-lap race at Mount Albert on Saturday. The total time for the race was slow, but a record was broken in the last lap, which was done in 2m SOft by Mrs. Harrison, who won the final sprint brilliantly from Miss V. Baird. Tho result was:—Miss Ellie Swinburn (lm), 13m Is, 1; .Mrs. Harrison (scr). 12m 225, 2; Miss Violet Baird (scr). 12m 235, 3. Fastest time: Mrß. Harrison, 12m 225. RACES IN THE PROVINCE The following results of cycling raceg held in the Auckland Province on Saturdoy afternoon were forwarded by correspondents of the Herald:— Hamilton,—The Hamilton Sports Club conducted a cyclo race championship from Hamilton to Cambridge and back, a distance of 20 miles. The results were:—T. Watkins, 1L. Hodgson,. 2; N. Lentfer, 3. Lentfcr did the fastest time in 67m 355. Rotorua.—The Rotorua Amateur Cycling Uub held a road race over a course of 25J miles. The weather was fine and the conditions very favourable. Results: P. Vaughan <2Jnj), 1; L Montague (2Jm). 2; E. Martin (lm), 3; L. Matheson (2}m), 4. Time, 71m 41s. fastest time was made by E. Martin 70ru 28s.
