TOWN DEFEATS COUNTRY COMPETITION AT HAMILTON WIN SECURED IN FOURSOMES [i'KOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] Hamilton. Sunday Tlie first golf match between a team from the Auckland city clubs and a team representing the clubs south of Auckland was played at St. Andrews links to-day. In the singles, the country team won 12 games, and city won nine. Three games were squared. City turned the tallies in the afternoon foursomes, winning eight of the 12 games, one of which was square. On the aggregate, city won 17 games, country 15 games, and four were squared. The weather was favourable, and tho greens were in excellent condition. Forty-eight players took part in the match, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The fixture was a great success, and will probably bo an annual one, tho Auckland players agreeing that it should bo played at St. Andrews to suit tho convenience of the South Auckland players.
