SENIOR GRADE CONTESTS • THISTLE CHAMPION TEAM FIRST DEFEAT SUFFERED The .senior club championship of the Auckland Football Association was finalised on Saturday in fine weather, Thistle proving the 1934 champions by tlie widj margin of six points. The run-jiers-up arc Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys and North Shore, which are both level. Thistle experienced its first defeat, of tiie season in the match against Eastern Suburbs at St. Heliers, tho latter gaining a close victory. A poor game way witnessed in the principal attraction at Blandford Park between Y.M.C.A. and Onehunga, the latter being overwhelmed by its opponents. North Shore showed improved form in disposing of Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys in the curtain-raiser match, ■while Comrades surprised bomewhat by accounting lor Ponsonby at Western Springs in. a convincing maimer.
