NURSE'S GENEROSITY
LOAN FOR AMBULANCE EASY TERMS PROVIDED A generous financial offer by a nurse in Palmerston North has been accepted by the executive committee of the St. John Ambulance Association in 'Auckland.
The nurse, who saw the work of a detachment of Auckland ambulance officers at Napier during the earthquake of February, 1931, communicated with the committee, and said she was prepared to offer a loan of £250 at 3 per cent a year, payable at half-yearly intervals, for five years from September 1, 1934. The nurse said the offer was made without security being required, and she ended her letter with the words, " With all sympathy for your good work in the city of Auckland and suburbs."
Appreciative reference to the offer was made by speakers at a meeting of the executive committee of the organisation this week, when the offer was accepted. The chairman, Mr. C. J. Tunks, said the money would be especially useful in the task of repaying the overdraft in the building account.
