Noel Coward's scintillating comedy, " The Young Idea," full of tho author's inimitable wit and repartee, is to be presented by the Garrick Dramatic Society, under the direction of Miss Raie Robinson, at the Town Hall Concert Chamber on August 30 and September 1, and the cast, after many tests, has just been completed. Many well known amateurs were tried out in the various roles and Miss Robinson paid great attention to the selecting of experienced and suitable types. The players include: Mavis McCulloch as Cicely, Jovce Crosher as Genda, Sara Stacpoole as Priscilla, Antonia Martinengo as Jennifer, Kathleen Sawkns as Julia, Leslie Napier as Sybil, Arthur Snaith as George Brent, Brian FisherBetts as Sholto, Terence Agmen-Smith as Claud Eocles, Robert Crawford as Hiram J. Lovers of 18th century music will revel in tho programme to be given by members of the Auckland Society of Musicians at the second public recital of the season, in the Lewis Eady Hall to-morrow afternoon. It should also be a revelation to those, rapidly _ dwindling in number, who are inclined to think that there is a lack of vitality and imagination in the foundations of modern European music. The two big works of the afternoon will be Bach s Concerto in D Minor, for two violins and piano, and Handel's G Minor Concerto, originally written for organ and orchestra, but also arranged for two pianos by Handel himself. In the first concerto, the performers will be Mr. Vincent Aspey (first violin), Miss Helen Gray (second violin),_ and Miss Jean Clarkson (piano), while in the second the players will be Miss Dora Judson and Mr. H. Barry Coney. Other performers in the concert, which will include songs, piano solos and violin solos, will be Mr. Harold Davis, Mr. Alfred Pascoe, Madame Aileen Johns, Miss Leela Bloy, Miss Gwenda Weir, and Mr. Roger Errington.
