DAMAGE TO MOTOR-CAR GREAT NORTH ROAD ACCIDENT A small motor-car which was severely damaged when it collided with a stationary vehicle in the Great North Road at about five o'clock yesterday afternoon was further damaged by fire shortly afterward. The vehicle, which is owned by Mr. I. E. Scott, of Henderson, was travelling from the city and at the sharp bend in tho Great North Road near Crummer Road it collided with a parked vehicle. Mr. Scott", who was alone in the car, suffered an injury to a wrist and abrasions, but was not sent to hospital. The benzine tank was fractured and petrol leaked on to the road. It is believed tho fire was caused by the dropping of a match or cigarette butt by one of tho many bystanders. Fire engines from the Central and Western Districts Rations attended tho outbreak, M/hich was quickly extinguished before much additional damage was caused.
As a result of tho collision Mr. Scott's car was severely damaged. The front whools, axle and wings, the radiator aud windshield suffered extensively, while the engine was forced back and the chassis bent. Tho other vehicle involved in the accident was not damaged to any great extent.
