COINS FOUND ON BEACH
Four coins and a small medallion, probably part of a lost collection, were found on the beach at Raglan recently. They were a Napoleon 111. penny, dated 1855; a similar halfpenny, dated 1854; a copper coin, with a fish and an ear of grain on one side and Cix, surmounted by a crown, on the other, dated 1886; a Belgian 10 centimes piece of silver, dated 1861; and a small bronze medallion, iVith "N.Z." over "Queen Victoria, June '2O, 1897," on one side, and, on the other, a scene showing the coronation of Queen Victoria, with tho inscriptioni "The King is dead. Long live the Queen."
