LOSSES BY FIRE
BAD MONTH IN BRITAIN OVER £1,000,000 INVOLVED (Received August 9. 9.5 p.an.) British Wireless RUGBY, August 8 Exceptionally heavy losses through fires in Britain and Ireland last month to a large extent were attributable to the dry weather and the shortage of water. Serious outbreaks are estimated to have involved losses totalling £735,400, and when the cost of minor outbreaks is added the month's total of the losses by fire probably will exceed £1,177,000.
