BUILDING TRADE ACTIVE CUT RESTORATION REFUSED [from ottr own correspondent] TAURANGA, Thursday A meeting of the Tauranjza Borough Council was held last night, when the inspector, Mr. R. Bamberrv, reported that during the past month permits to the value of £7075 were issued, and at the moment buildings approximating £IO,OOO in value, were being erected in the borough. The buildings comprised dwellings, shops and garages. The Finance Committee reported that a deputation of employees had waited on the committee and requested that the council restore the 10 per cent cut. or. if not the whole, then part of it. The committee recommended that while the council felt somewhat sympathetic toward the deputation's request, it could not see its way to grant the request at the present time, but recommended that the matter come up for consideration when conditions were more favourable. The committee's recommendation was approved. It was decided to proceed with thp conversion of the electricitv loan of £90.000.
