PENROSE METHODISTS

ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL HELD The 21st anniversary of the erection of the Methodist Church at Penrose was celebrated on Monday evening. The Rev. E. Hnrkness presided, and explained that prior to the erection of the church services had been held at the home of Mrs. E. J. Ferguson," who. together with Mr. and Mrs. C. A Whit.e, the builder of the church, and Mrs. Foster, were still maintaining an active part in the work of the church. A pleasing ceremony was the cutting of a birthday cake made by Miss Elsie White and adorned with 21 candles. Sirs. Ferguson performed this task, using an old sword that was of family interest, having been brought from the Crimea, dated 1838. The following contributed to the musical portion of the programme:—Miss Kemp, Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Howe, Mrs. Sibbin, Mrs. Harkness, Mr. C. Anderson and Rev. Harkness.
