WOMEN'S LUNCHEON CLUB

The fortnightly meeting of the Luncheon Club was held in Milne and Choyce's Reception Hall. Mrs. K. O'Halloran presided over a large gathering of members and Mrs. Page and Miss F. Brookes acted as hostesses.

The speaker was Mr. A. Bryant and his subject Avas one cf vital interest at the moment, that of "Modern Germany." Mr. Bryant, who has lived in Germany, was able to give personal experiences and first-hand information on many points. He spoke of the development of the new Germany since the end of the war and touched on the rise of Hitlerism from the psychological, social, and economic point of view. He also spoke of the character of Hitler —his moodiness, his love of action, his organising abili.ty and his ruthlessness. Finally he paid a tribute to the late Marshal von Hindenburg, who had acted as a "brake" on Hitlerism.

Miss Waddingham thanked Mr. Bryant on behalf of the club for his very interesting address.
