EX-SERVICEMEN MEET

GATHERING AT WHANGAREI

[from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI. Saturday A nodal' evening was held by the Empire Ex-Servicemen's Association chiefly for the purpose of hearing an address on the work of the New Zealand Tunnelling Corps given by Mr. R. H. P. Ronnyne, district engineer of the Public Works Department, who was a member of the corps in France. Colonel J. N. McCarroll presided over a good attendance. Mr. Ronayne, in his address, traced the activities of the corps at the various fronts and the great value of the work carried out. He said the Tunnelling Company had one regret, in that thoy were not called upon at any time to protect any portion of the line occupied by the New Zealand Division. A musical programme was contributed during the evening.
