ROYAL AIR FORCE
PERMANENT COMMISSION SUCCESS OF AUCKLANDER A permanent commission in the Royal Air Force has been secured by Mr. T. Gray Young, 8.E., elder son of Mr. W. Crawford Young, of Pine Street, Remuera, according to advice received from England. Mr. Young will leave Wellington for England on August 3 by the Rangitiki to report at Grantham on October 1. The appointment has been made under an arrangement by which the British Air Ministry reserves one permanent commission in_ the Royal Air Force each year for a New Zealand university graduate, to be nominated by the Governor-General. Born in AYellington, Mr. Young is 23 years of age. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School and entered Auckland University College with a junior university scholarship. He commenced a course in civil engineering and won the senior scholarship in engineering in 1931, when he transferred to Canterbury College. After completing his 8.E., Mr. Young commenced practical engineering and has recently been employed bv the Public Works Department. He intends to study aeronautical engineering.
