QUESTION OF CONTROL MINISTRY TO RETAIN LONDON, July 20 The secretary of State for Air, the Marquess of Londonderry, in a memorandum published with the report of tho committee on the control of private flying, says the Government has no intention of transferring the administration of civil aviation from the Air Ministry to a purely civil department or committee of the State. Though there might bo advantages from such a transfer, technical considerations precluded it. The position should be reviewed within a decade.
Two members of the committeo, Mr. Gordon England and Colonel MooreBrabazon, have published a reservation expressing the opinion that no greater encouragement could be given to commercial and private aviation than by its divorcement from a purely military Air Ministry.
Lord Londonderry, in reply, insists that Britain's civil Aviation policy has always aimed first and foremost at commercial development for pacific and Imperial purposes.
