SWANSON SHOP ENTERED

DISAPPEARANCE OF GOODS three; suspects arrested A confectionery shop in Swanson, occupied by Mr. Albert Perris, was broken into on Monday night and a quantitv of confectionery, three bottles of mineral water, two cycle repair outfits and a packet of playing cards, of a total value of £1 16s sd, were stolen. The intruders gained entrance to the Hshop, which forms part of the Swanson public hall building, by climbing through an open window into the hall and then above the piaster ceiling of the shop. By breaking away the plaster they were able to drop into the shop. At about 8 p.m. Mr. Perris heard a noise in the hall and later saw two youths leave the building by climbing through a window He followed the youths, who disappeared into some S °Subsequently Constable Rushton, of Henderson, with the assistance of local residents, located three suspects, who were taken into custody. Yesterday Ernest Bertrand Rhmd, aeed 18, and Robert Franklin Jones, aged 17, appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court, and were charged with breaking and entering Mr. Perris' shop and stealing goods valued al £1 16s sd. On the application of Senior-Detective Hall they were remanded until Monday. Bail was not sought. The third j r outh arrested was similarly charged before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., and was remanded to appear in the Children's Court on Saturday. He was ordered to remain in custody.

BURGLARY AT WAIHI SMOKERS' GOODS STOLEN [BY TELEGRAPH' —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WAIHI, Tuesday Between closing hours last night and the resumption of business this morning the tobacconist and hairdressing Zp of Mr. F. J. Worthinston, in Uoner Seddon Street, was broken into and cigarettes and tobacco to the value of £lO or £l2 stolen. An entry was effected through the window at the back of the premises, the catch being forced Mr. Worthington fortunately had taken the precaution to remove the day's takings from the till.
