IMPROVED DEMAND TONE OF MARKET STEADY LONDON. July 4 At the London wool sales to-day 11,965 bales were offered, including 2994 from New Zealand, and about 4228 were sold. There was a rather better demand tiao oa the first day. The tone of the' market was steady and opening prices were maintained. Representatives of homo firms were the chief purchasers. A New Zealand greasy halfbred clip, "Belmont," realised 13d a lb. BRISBANE AUCTIONS ABANDONMENT REPORTED BRISBANE. July 5 The Woolselling Brokers' Association announces that the Brisbane wool sales, which were to have commenced on July 16, have been abandoned. No reasons are given, _ but it has been ascertained that this action is considered to be in the best interests of the trade. July 4 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £6 17s 5d an ounce, compared with £6 17s 7}d yesterday. • Silver is quoted at 20 11-lod an ounce spot, and 20 13-16 d forward, compared with 20 13-16 d and 20 15-16 d yesterday. . The quotation for sdver at per line ounce is 20 11-16 d, compared with 20 13-lGd yesterday. AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE (Received July 5 6.45 p.m.) SYDNEY. July 5 Following are to-day's quotations on the Sydney produce market:—Wheat: Country sidings, 2s 2d for bagged lots and 2s Id bulk, equal to about 2s 9d ex trucks Sydney. Flour, £B. Bran, £4. APPLES IN LONDON LONDON, July 4 The New Zealand apples by the Fordsdale and Port Wellington sold as follows: —Statesman, 7s to 9s 3d a case; Yates, 9s to 9s 3d; Dunns, 6s 3d to 7s; Granny Smiths, 9s to 13s Gd; Delicious, 6s to 7s 6d; Stunners, 6s to Bs. BRITISH WAR LOAN (Received Julv 5, 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. July 4 War Loan, 3£ per cent, is quoted today at £lO3 7s 6d, compared with £lO3 3s 9d yesterday.
