ALL BLACK TRIAL
INTEK-ISI/AND MATCH
TO-MORROW'S BIG CONTEST HIGH STANDARD EXPECTED FIVE AUCKLAND PLAYERS Great interest is being taken throughout the province in tho All Black trial match between North and South Island teams to bo played at Eden Park tomorrow. During recent years Auckland enthusiasts have not been privileged to sco many inter-Island contests, and tho fact that five Aucklanders will take part lends added interest from a local viewpoint. The Auckland players aro Corner, Caughey, Knight, McLean and Had ley. The majority of the players are well known, many in each side having previously gained New Zealand honours. As the All Black team to visit Australia next month will be selected after to-morrow's match, all the players are sure to be on their mettle. Judging from the personnel of the teams, two splendid sets of forwards will be seen in action, while tho backs also appear to be evenly matched. Possession of the ball from the scrums is likely to play a decided part in the result, and providing tho share is_more or less equally divided, some sparkling football is anticipated. A New Halfback There is one change in tho South Island toam from that originally chosen. Francis, the Otago halfback, has been replaced by Gaffeney, South Canterbury. Gaffeney played as five-eighths in tho Southern trial game and was considered to be unlucky to be passed over in the first instance for to-morrow's match. The teams will arrive in Auckland this morning and will stay at the Hotel Cargen. They will practise later at Eden Park. Tho New Zealand selectors are Messrs. E. McKenzie, Wairarapa, V. R. Meredith, Auckland, A. A. Adams, West Coast, and A. J. Geddes, Southland. Mr. Geddes, who will be manager of the All Blacks in Australia, is acting as a substitute on the selection committee for Mr. W. T. Pearson, Otago, who was unablo to come North owing to illness.
