HIGHER PENSIONS BILL
LAST (YEAR'S INCREASE TOTAL NOW £3,149,895 WAR AND OLD AGE PAYMENTS [BY TELEGRAI'II —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Thursday A further increase in New Zealand's annual pensions bill is shown in tho annual report of the department tabled in tho House of Representatives today. War and old-age pensions account for over two-thirds of the total payments, which amounted to £3,149,895 for the year ended March 31 last, compared with £3,031,781 in tho preceding year. In tho following table, payments iq the past two years are compared, in each case:—
