Emerson has completed arrangements to leave for Sydney on August 4 with Marcus Cicero and Hine Ra. If all goes well with the pair ho will oxtend his trip to Melbourne. Marcus Cicero has furnished exceptionally well and will hold his own in that regard when paraded with other three-year-olds in Australia. He has done a good ileal of work during the past few weeks and yesterday reeled off the fastest half-mile of the morning. Hine Ra is a rising two-year-old fdly by Iliud from Bonny Dawn, dam of Early Cup and Acceptable She has been sprinted on the inside tracks on a few occasions and has displayed marked promise. Sbe is ( a compact filly, but gives indications of growing into a reasonably big youngster. Hine Ra will probably be one of the first of Iliad's stock to race and much interest will naturally be evinced in her initial efforts. F D. Jones will also loave for Sydney on August 4 with Nightly, Custodian, Two No Trumps, The Masqueruder and Abdication. Nightly continues to make satisfactory progress and has shown no signs of his leg trouble during the past week or bo. He was given a gallop over five furlongs yesterday and under restraint recorded good time. Custodian has also dene well and is gradually getting into racing shape. Abdication, by Chief Ruler from Termination, is the makings of a nice two-year-old, but has not yet been given any sprinting owing to suffering from a bad cold. He will bo able to start on serious work next week. AUSTRALIAN TURF ASCOT RACE MEETING NEW ZEALAND JOCKEY'S WIN (Received July 4, 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 4 At the Ascot races to-day a former New Zealand jockey, A. Murray, who has just procured a licence here, rode Curtius, the winner of the Flying Handicap. DANNEVIRKE HUNT RACES POSTPONEMENT . UNTIL ' TO-DAY [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DANNEVIRKE, Wednesday Owing to the weather, the Dannevirko Hunt Club's race meeting, which was to huve been held hero to-day, has been postponed until to-morrow. HORSES FOR ADDINGTON PEGAWAY AND WRECKER The Takanini-trained pacers Pegaway and Wrecker will race at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's National Meeting at Addington nest month. Both horses are in regular work and look the picture of good health. Pegaway has furnished into a rare type. He has not raced since his unsuccessful visit to Wellington in January, but he Bhows signs of having done a good deal of useful work and is full of muscle. He is on a 4.28 mark, but at Addington will be given an opportunity to qualify ior the New Zealand Trotting Cup. ~ . x The two races Wrecker had on the first day of the June meeting have left no illeffcots and he is very bright in appearance.
