CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH
ESTIMATES FOR YEAR EXPENDITURE OF £15,890 [FROM OUR OW'N correspondent] CAMBRIDGE. Wednesday The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council was held, when the estimates for the current financial year were approved. Rates were struck, the total being 6d in tho pound, the same as last year. The vote is made up of a general and consolidated (special loans) rate of 4d and water rate 2d. Tho council agreed upon a 5 per cent discount for prompt payment of rates within 30 davs of demand.
The estimates provide for an expenditure of £15,890, about tho same as last year. It is estimated that the rates will produce £6OOO, compared with £6133 last year. The council will lose about £l3O as the result of no rates from domain lands this year owing to the manner of tho issue of new leases to tenants by the Domain Board. The council had previously given the Domain Board a free water, supply for tho To Ivoutu Park, but it has now decided to charge the board £2O per annum.
Staff salary increases were made to tho total of £57 per annum.
