Bruce, was the guest at a luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce. and in an address he. vigorously expounded Australia's policy of bartering trade for trade. Referring to the unbalanced between Australia and America, he saidl'l it was obviously impossible to continue the policies that followed the failure of the London Economic Conference. The - only hope of the future was in the . nations arranging reciprocal trade treaties. "I am going to Washington to meet the heads of the Administration," he said. "I bolisve it is possible to do something to improve our trade relations. ~~ For years you have been selling large 'J quantities of goods iu Australia and buying thn smallest quantities from us. "We co nil sell you many things you need, and re want to continue buying ; from you, 'bat trade cannot continue to be as one-sided as now."
