BRIDGE AFTERNOON

QUEEN CARNIVAL FUNDS A bridge afternoon was organised yesterday by Mrs. X. Howard, of Devonport, at the residence of Mrs. E. A. Bowles, Ferndale Street, the proceeds being in aid of the queen carnival for St. Matthew's Church. The players were received on arrival by Mrs. Howard, who wore a frock of cerise crepe de chine, and Mrs. Bowles, who wore cedar brown cobweb lace over satin. Tables were set out for bridge in the drawing room and lounge, where bowls of Iceland poppies made charming decorations. The prizes were won by Mrs. Saunders, for bridge, and Mrs. T. Flovd, for five hundred.

Among the players were: —Mrs. P. Floyd, Mrs. E. Moresby, Mrs. M. Colledge, Mrs. Fricker, Mrs. Taylor, .Mrs. Alderson, Mrs. Revell, Mrs. Truscott, Mrs. D'Authreau, Mrs. Magncr, Mrs. Place, Mrs. Rossiter, Mrs. Tristrane, Mrs. Whittaker, Mrs. Spinks, Mrs. R. K. Woollams, Mrs. McKenzie, Mrs. Thwaites, M rs. H. Binstead, Mrs. Struthers, Mrs. Birkenhead, Mrs. Moonev, Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Savery, Mrs. Kewar, Mrs. Cornes, Mrs. Drake, Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Austin, Mrs. Partington, Miss Me Williams, Miss Bowles.
