SOCIAL AT BIRKDALE

WHIST DRIVE AND DANCE A social gathering was held in the public hall at Birkdale on Saturday under the auspices of the local Women's Institute. The guests were welcomed by the president, Mrs. _W. Williams. The floor arrangements were in charge of Mr. Cecil Schorman. 3\lr. L. It. L. Moller supervised the card tables, the prize-wiuners being:—Ladies: Mrs. L. Reid, 1; Mrs. W. S. Garrett, 2. Gentlemen: Mr. C. W. inwards, 1; Mr. G. Overbury, 2. Consolation: Mrs. L. Moller. The competition was won by Mrs. D. Price.
