DAY NURSERIES
[from our own correspondent] LONDON", April 13 The proposal to erect a day nursery at Lambeth as a memorial to Lady Cynthia Mosley, on behalf of which an appeal was made recently by the Prime Minister and members of the House of Commons in all parties, has received generous support, but not sufficient to enable the scheme to be completed. Day nurseries are performing a splendid service for children in different pafrts of London, and Sir George Newman, chief medical officer, Ministry of Health, in a recent report, emphasised the advantages of a wellorganised f day nursery, which, he stated, "provides not only the essential elements of a healthy life, but also lays tjie foundation of training aad education." A day nursery is stated to bo urgently needed in L'ambeth. Land for its erection has been provided by the London Count 3* Council at a nominal rent, and a grant of £3OO a year toward maintenance has been made by the I<ambeth Borough Council.
