Miss C. Pavkel, Epsom, left at the end of last week for Sydney. Mrs. H. Blakeley is the guest of Mrs. Ernest Firth, Christchurch. Mrs. A. E. Hammer left by the Mariposa on a visit to Sydney. Mr. and -Mrs. Jack Carr, Seaview ißoad. Remuera, arc visiting Wanganui. Mrs. W. Gill and her two daughters Jei'c on their return to Masterton at the week-end. Miss Elspeth Barton, Heretaunga, -tviil leave on May 28 to visit her sister, Mrs. Quin, in Bermuda. Dr. and Mrs. Leslie Averill, Christchurch. are the guests of Archbishop and Mrs. Averill, Bishopscourt, Parnell. Mrs. ; J. Laurie and Mrs. H. Thwaites, of Tauranga, have been staying for a few days with Mrs. G. H. W. Lowell, Taneatua. Mrs. D. Alexander, Morrinsville, Mrs. E. Wallace, Wellington, Mrs. D. Walden, Mrs. E. J. Gibson and Mrs. J. Gibson, Hamilton, Miss Woon, .Wanganpi, are at the Station Hotel. A mating of the Otahuhu Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Thursday afternoon, the president, Mrs. Eccersall, presiding. Peace Day was celebrated, after which the remits passed at the Dominion convention were read by Mrs. W. Taylor. The inaugural fortnightly old-time tlance of the Onehunga Ex-servicemen's Club, was held in the clubroom on Saturday evening. Competitions were held for useful prizes and were won by the following:—Mrs. F. Warrington (2), Mrs. Collins and Mrs. W. Pall. A /talk on the work aud aims of the League of Nations was gi\en b.v Mrs. Hunter, of Birkenhead, to members of the Henderson branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union on Thursday. Mrs. Knaggy reported on the work of the Band of Hope. Mrs. Piatt presided.
An At Home was held on Friday at the Young Women's Christian Association, Bank Street, Whangarei, in honour of iliss Jean Stevenson, national secretary of the Y.W.C.A. in New Zealand. The clubroom was turned into a cosv drawing room and the guests were received by .Mrs. J. N. McCarroll, president of the Whangarei Young Women's Christian Association, and Mrs. W. Jones and Mrs. F. Reed, vice-presidents. Miss Stevenson gave an address on "Girls of Yesterday and To-day," and a programme of music was rendered by Mesdames A. T. Brainsby, A. D. Jack and Fry.
The Kohimarama-St. Heliers branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union entertained the members of the Loyal Temperance Legion and the children 011 the cradle roll on Wednesday 'afternoon, Mrs. Kasper presiding. Mrs. 0. Perkins gave a devotional talk to the children and members, and the Loyal Temperance Legion members carried out their exercises, led by Miss Hazel Phillips. Items were rendered by Mesdames Lewis Eady and Reffel, lan. Erkklin and Esme Beaner. A short temperance, address was given by Mrs. H. Kasper. and tea was served by the Misses Phillips, Mitchell and Maughn. °7
