PRIVATE VIEW GIVEN WATER-COLOURS PRAISED (Receive May 7, 5.5 p.m.) British • Wireless RUGBY, May 5 A large and .fashionable gathering thronged the salons of Burlington House when the summer exhibition of the lloyal Academy was opened to a private view of incited guests. It is the general opinion of art critics thk in regard to craftmanship, especially in the water-colour and graphic art sections, the works exhibited are of great excellence. In the architectural section an exceptionally interesting exhibit is provided by drawings'of the new London University buildings by Mr. Charles Holden. The buildings, when completed, will be the largest work of architecture in London.

Mr. Charles Holden is the sole architect for the London University buildings, which are being erected on the Blooms,bury site. Ho has been responsible for designing many fine public and business buildings in Lngland, including the head offices of the Underground Railway, Westminster, and the Piccadilly Circus station and other stations for the Underground Railway. He designed the war memorials of New College, Oxford and Clifton College, and is one of the principal architects for the Imperial War Graves Commission.
